O-Rings
O-Rings are a very important component to an Ultraviolet system. They provide the water tight seal that is necessary from keeping your Ultraviolet Bulb and electronics from getting wet. O-rings are a wearable part and need to be changed when you notice them starting to dry rot or deteriorate. Next time you change your lamp and clean your quartz sleeve make sure you are inspecting your O-rings and replacing as need. As always WaterFiltrationSupply.com carries O-Rings for different Ultraviolet systems!

Quartz Sleeves
If you are replacing your ultraviolet lamp, please make sure you are checking your quartz sleeve for cracks and are cleaning it regularly. While changing your bulb every year is necessary to maintain proper ultraviolet intensity levels it is also important that you are cleaning your quartz sleeve so that the light is properly transmitting through the glass quartz sleeve and shining into your stainless steel chamber. If you notice your quartz sleeve is looking cloudy or foggy make sure to clean it both inside and out with a soft clean cloth. To help with the removal of calcium deposits use vinegar or "CLR Cleaner". Please make sure that all cleaner is removed of the quartz sleeve before re-installing it back into your ultraviolet system. By regularly servicing and cleaning your ultraviolet system you will insure its functionality for many years to come.

Ultraviolet Water Treatment
Ultraviolet Water treatment is an important technology in defending your water from microorganisms and other impurities. UV systems run on the UV-C Wavelength (253.7 nm) which is effective at mutilating the DNA of bacteria and other dangerous contaminants. If you have an Ultraviolet System, it is very important to change the UV bulb every year (9000 hours) to make sure the intensity stays above the systems design parameters.
